Trans Arctic ship of the year 2008
We are very happy, says Captain Waldemar Wyszynski on Trans Arctic. When loading in Barcelona early in March the crew got the Ship-of-the-year-reward from Ship Owner Lars Helge Kyrkjebø.
-There are a lot of good Ship-of-the-year candidates in Seatrans, and there has been very positive developments onboard several vessels during 2008, says Kyrkjebø. -The committee is very impressed about the general standard onboard. The Ship-of-the-year competition is definitely getting tighter.... So why Trans Arctic this time? The nomination committee emphasized the following as basis for their conclusion:
* The vessel has had a very positive development during the last few years, with enthusiastic and motivated officers and crew.
* It is a demanding ship to maintain and operate with a limited number of cabins and crew, which the officers and crew onboard have managed very well.
* The ship has an excellent performance, to SCT's full satisfaction.
* In total a well deserved nomination, with very positive feedback from all departments within Seatrans.
-We extend our congratulations to the whole crew onboard Trans Arctic for their efforts in achieving this distinction, continues Kyrkjebø.
The event was marked with a ceremony onboard March 2nd , where the entire crew got the “golden” cap with Ship-of-the-year sign on and a cheque on USD 5.000 to extra welfare on board.

-So what are the plans?
-We have not concluded yet. The price belongs to both crews on Trans Arctic, but a new and bigger LCD television is high on the priority list, says Captain Waldemar Wyszynski on the bridge, waiting to enter the quay in Gebse, Turkey.
